After turning his stylish hand to myths (Immortals) and fairy tales (Mirror Mirror), director Tarsem Singh is headed back to the world of science fiction he explored in The Cell. He’s making a deal to craft The Panopticon for indie production company Good Universe.

The Uninvited’s Craig Rosenberg has written the script for the mysterious action thriller, which sees an apparently ordinary man receive a weird package in the mail. It contains a pre-recorded message from himself, warning that the world is close to ending and that only he can save us all. So begins a race against time to figure out the puzzle before the clock runs out on mankind. Cue the dramatic musical sting!

Before he even considers working on that one, however, Singh will continue preparing to shoot Selfless, set to star Ryan Reynolds. That one sees a rich elderly cancer patient transferring his consciousness into the body of a healthy young man, only to run into trouble when he discovers the youthful frame’s origins. Selfless scheduled for release in autumn next year.
