Robin Hood 2018

Looking to bring something slightly fresh to the well-trodden paths of the Robin Hood story, this new take finds Taron Egerton as Robin of Locksley, a lord who finds his calling helping the people of England as its rulers fall into corruption. The new trailer for what is simply called Robin Hood is now online.

Here we have Jamie Foxx as Little John, a Moorish warrior who helps to train Robin to become a thief (and to perfect slo-mo action scenes, apparently), with the twist on the main character being his double life as a lord hob-nobbing with the likes of the Sheriff Of Nottingham (Ben Mendelsohn on full scowl mode), while undercutting his dastardly plans to tax his subjects back to the Stone Age.

The likes of Jamie Dornan and Tim Minchin show up as some of his Merry Men (though there seem few opportunities for merriment in the gritty tone) while Eve Hewson is Maid Marian. Otto Bathurst called the shots, and Robin Hood will be out in the UK on 21 November.
