A Tale of No Cities

Trade reports on Monday suggested that Gregory Nava had been signed to direct Mel Gibson in the Warner Bros. production of Cherles Dickens' A Tale of Two Cities. This may not now be the case. Gibbson is apparently less than pleased at the studio for selecting Nava without first consulting him. The New York Post yesterday carried a follow-up story suggesting that Gibson only agreed to star in the film when Chinese director Chen Kaige had been lined up to direct. Apparently Gibson and Nava don't get along. What's the betting it's the director rather than star who's replaced?
