Yesterday we got the second trailer for Luca Guadagnino’s remake of Suspiria, and it cemented the bewitching horror as one of the most anticipated films still to come in 2018. But there was one hitch – there was no confirmed UK distributor, and no distributor means no UK release date. Well, thankfully that’s changed within the last 24 hours – and we now know when the Dario Argento remake will hit the big screen this side of the Atlantic.
Suspiria has been picked up UK-side by MUBI – the film streaming service specialising in international and arthouse movies. And if the thought of video-on-demand has you worried, fret not – it will receive a cinema release, with MUBI planning to place Guadagnino’s film in over 100 cinemas from 16 November. “We’re very excited to work with Amazon and Luca on the release,” MUBI founder Efe Cakarel told Variety. “[The film is] terrifyingly beautiful….With Luca behind the lens, UK audiences are in for a real treat.”
Guadagnino’s film stars Dakota Johnson as Susie, an American dance student who heads to a German dance school and encounters seriously sinister goings-on. Tilda Swinton stars as Madame Blanc, with Chloë Grace Moretz and Mia Goth also in the cast.
