It may bill itself as 'the pre-eminent showcase for the exhibition of independent cinema' but the best way to get noticed at Sundance has always been to feature some well known names in your cast list. And this year's entries are no exception. Famous faces to be seen in festival films this year include Christopher Walken (The Opportunist), Heather Graham (Committed), Ellen Barkin (Crime and Punishment in Surburbia) and Matthew Broderick (You can Count on Me). There's a fair number of British actors turning up as well including Bernard Hill (Blessed Art Thou) and Janet McTeer (SongCatcher). In addition to competition entries, the festival also presents film companies with the opportunity to springboard bigger budget movies. Festival goers will be amongst the first to see Christian Bale in American Psycho and Boiler Room with Ben Affleck. Sundance runs from January 20th through to January 30th 2000.
