Never happier than when he’s tinkering with some facet of media, and continuing his growing relationship with television, Steven Soderbergh is cooking up something ambitious for HBO, with Sharon Stone signed on to star in **Mosaic.

The director has been keeping the project under wraps for a while now, but Entertainment Weekly has been doing some digging. While Soderbergh is looking to kick off shooting soon with Stone and potentially Garrett Hedlund in the cast, the more intriguing part of the project is the bit he’s staying schtum about: it may involve multiple endings or even several plot stands that viewers will be able to control with an app. Nothing has been confirmed, but Soderbergh did finally release a statement about the fast-developing idea. “I believe the good people at HBO are genuinely enthusiastic about Mosaic for two reasons: First, it represents a fresh way of experiencing a story and sharing that experience with others; second, it will require a new Emmy category, and we will be the only eligible nominee.”

More will eventually come out about this one, and it’s going to be interesting to see where it goes and whether anyone was right about it. Soderbergh’s other main TV interest, The Knick, returns to US screens on October 16, with Sky likely to show it soon after that.
