As director Matt Reeves and writer Mark Bomback gear up to start making Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes follow-up War For The Planet Of The Apes, word has arrived as to a new piece of casting for the threequel. Steve Zahn will be slipping on a performance capture suit to play an unknown ape in the film{ =nofollow}.

Though no official reports have surfaced, Andy Serkis should be back as Caesar, with Terry Notary also on ape duty. Chad Rook is playing someone named Boyle while Gabriel Chavarria has a role as an unnamed human. The biggest name to join up so far is Woody Harrelson, as a man called the Colonel.

Details are sketchy about what the film will cover, though if you watched Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes you know that (spoiler alert) after a conflict between the human survivors of the virus and Caesar’s simian forces, a sort of truce was reached, one that was threatened by the coming of human reinforcements from outside San Francisco.

The film is scheduled to start shooting soon and will be out in the UK on July 21, 2017. Zahn is part of the voice cast for Pixar’s The Good Dinosaur, which arrives here on November 27. Then there’s Adam Sandler’s comedy Western The Ridiculous Six, with Netflix due to offer the film in December.
