Steve Martin And Diane Keaton Reunite

But not for Father of the Bride 3. Phew

Steve Martin And Diane Keaton Reunite

In their day, both Steve Martin and Diane Keaton have made some great comic films. Even one of their two films together, the first Father of the Bride, was pretty decent in a guilty pleasure sort of way. But the news that they are to star together again in One Big Happy somehow fills us with dread.

The plot details are under wraps, but apparently it's a "family comedy" wherein a couple (we're going to go ahead and guess that's Martin and Keaton) and their family "reconnect amid various obstacles". Which could describe most of their separate film output of the last 10 years - and most of those have been pretty dire (consider, if you can bear to, Because I Said So and Cheaper By The Dozen 2).

But surely we can hope for a return to form, or at least something on a Parenthood level. They've still got it somewhere, deep down - right? The script for this effort comes from Party of Five creators Chris Keyser and Amy Lippman, so let's hope they hold the schmaltz and add a side order of funny. In the meantime, you'll get to see Keaton next in Mama's Boy and Mad Money, and Martin's gearing up for Pink Panther 2.
