Fresh from his box office success in The 40 Year Old Virgin, Steve Carell is now in talks to reprise his role as Evan Baxter from Bruce Almighty, in the proposed sequel, Evan Almighty. This came to pass after Jim Carrey declined to make the movie as a straight sequel to Bruce Almighty, but the producers were so keen to get the next film up and running (and perhaps, sensibly, latch onto the actor's timely visibility) that they've morphed the script into this vehicle for Carell. They've come up with the idea that God somehow winds up calling on Evan to build an ark in preparation for a great flood. Don't ask, because we don't know any more than that yet, buit there's more good news - Morgan Freeman is set to return as God, and Tom Shadyac will make himself comfortable once again in the director's chair. Slightly more worrying is that Steve Oedekerk (who, to be honest, has mostly made a right load of old bollocks, including Kung Pow: Enter The Fist and its sequel) is returning to write the script, but there's been no mention of his co-writers from the original joining him. Of course, it's early days, and that's not to say that it won't happen. Granted, the original wasn't great, but it was good for a giggle, and one should never complain at getting to see more of Carell (the man is devoted to comedy
