Given that she’s already faced a zombie apocalypse in World War Z and a vengeful spirit in The Conjuring, you might imagine that young actress Sterling Jerins has been to enough dangerous places already. She’s still ready to visit more, signing on to** Dark Places.
The thriller, adapted from Gillian "Gone Girl" Flynn’s novel follows a woman (Charlize Theron) whose family was slaughtered when she was seven. Back in the day, she pointed to her brother as the culprit, testifying against him in court. Now, 25 years later, the Kill Club, a group obsessed with notorious crimes, confronts her with searching questions about what actually happened that day. The truth, as you might imagine, is still out there to be discovered.
Nine year-old Jerins will be playing Theron’s character at the younger age. She joins a cast that also includes Nicholas Hoult, who is the awkward treasurer of the Kill Club, and Chloe Moretz as a young woman named Diondra, who has ties to Theron’s family.
Giles Paquet-Brenner wrote the script and is directing the film. Jerins has also recently worked on Lullaby and is shooting Rob Reiner’s new comedy And So It Goes.
