Stephen King story in destined for screen shocker! Wait, no, what’s the absolute opposite of shocker… Anyway, following a long and occasionally proud tradition that includes more than 50 of the prolific author’s works being snapped up for various other formats, his short story Bad Little Kid has been optioned by writer/director Laurent Bouzereau{ =nofollow}.

**Bad Little Kid **was written primarily for King fans in France and Germany as a thank you gift for their hospitality towards him when he toured there last November. He published the story electronically in March, spinning the tale of a man whose life is forever altered when he discovers a mysterious, malevolent child is causing people around him to die. In answer to your next question, no, his name isn’t Joffrey.

Bouzereau has primarily produced documentaries up to this point, including films about Roman Polanski and Richard D. Zanuck. He crossed paths with King when he wrote and directed TCM’s retrospective film A Night At The Movies: The Horrors Of Stephen King, which boasted the author discussing the popularity of scary films. He’ll likely have made use of King’s famous policy of allowing his stories to be optioned cheaply, an idea that has helped the likes of Frank Darabont and Mick Garris in the past. In any case, let's hope this follows in the footsteps of other King shorts (well, short-ish stories) like The Shawshank Redemption and Stand By Me when it hits screens.
