We’re starting to get dribs and drabs of news about Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2, which has begun at least early filming without much ballyhoo. A couple of days ago, word of supermodel Alessandra Ambrosio joining the film arrived and now we have someone who has a higher profile – in geeky circles, at least – Stephen Amell will be Casey Jones.

Amell, currently to be seen as Oliver Queen on the DC TV series Arrow, is set to play the popular Turtles character, a hockey-masked vigilante who ends up helping our heroes in a half-shell and becoming a flirty love interest for April O’Neil (Megan Fox, who is returning to the film alongside Will Arnett).

Not much else is known about the film at this time, in terms of story – the script is again by writers Josh Appelbaum and André Nemec – and we don’t yet know if any of the physical performers or voice artists from last year’s reboot outing will be back. Earth To Echo director Dave Green is taking over from Jonathan Liebesman behind the camera. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 is set for release on June 3, 2016.

As for Amell, his TV schedule (and strict workout regime) keep him busy, though he is also attached to star in indie comedy Whatever Makes You Happy.
