Stealth-y Does It

Prepare for takeoff with new trailer

There's a disturbing trend this summer. All the big event films appear to have either a superhero or sci-fi tinge, leaving the big, dumb action movie languishing behind. But fear not! For Rob Cohen, that master of adrenalin-over-IQ filmmaking, has come through with Stealth, and you can watch its latest trailer online now. Our heroes this time are three pilots, the cre de la crème of naval aviators – played by Josh Lucas, Jessica Biel and Jamie Foxx (cast pre-Oscar, so on sidekick duties rather than in the lead). They're part of a top-secret programme aimed at developing artificial intelligence-based planes so that real pilots needn't risk their lives in combat. However, when the prototype for this is hit by lightning, it develops self-awareness and the three humans have to bring it down. So much for meddling with powers beyond man's ken. The whole thing sounds like Wargames-meets-Top Gun, but promises to be loads of fun, and offer a little more meat for thought than, say, xXx. The new trailer offers lots of action, some very cool looking planes and a big ring of fire in the sky (no, we don't know why either). There's also Jessica Biel in a bikini gentlemen – form an orderly line, and don't push. There's little that wasn't in the first trailer, but it's still a nice appetiser to remind us that there are films out this year other than Star Wars. You can see the trailer here.
