Imelda Staunton’s going teaching – in the ‘hood.
Okay, so perhaps we won’t see her pistol-whipping anyone (hands up who’d pay to see it), but she’ll play a teacher in a tough California school infested with gangs. Freedom Writers is based on a true story and will follow a new teacher (Hilary Swank) faced with the task of teaching English to a racially diverse class of teenagers. We bet none of the kids have seen Dangerous Minds.
Staunton will play a fellow teacher, while Scott Glenn plays Swank’s father and R&B singer Mario will turn up as a student.
