Because the world of science fiction was clearly crying out for Starship Troopers writer Ed Neumeier is heading back to the franchise and stepping behind the camera for a second sequel.

Neumeier penned both Paul Verhoeven’s ultra-violent, extra-nudie original and the watered-down, straight-to-video and frankly awful sequel, Hero Of The Federation.

And now he’s taking the reigns for a third outing, hoping to snag Casper Van Dien to return as the freshly promoted General Johnny Rico to continue the fight against the evil alien insect hordes.

We’re not sure if this one will actually see the inside of a cinema, but Neumeier plans to film on high-def on location in South Africa starting in March. Do you want to know more? We don’t, frankly.
