A host of big names have been added to Director Raoul Ruiz’s King Charlemagne epic Love And Virtue. Michael Madsen, Peter O'Toole, Daryl Hannah, Damian Lewis, Saffron Burrows, Virginie Ledoyen and John Malkovich are all reported to have been brought on board for the period feature. The Hours’ Stephen Dillane is tipped to play Charlemagne. The king is widely regarded as the Father Of Europe as he became the first head of a united western continent following the collapse of the Roman Empire.

Expect huge sets, mythic, majesterial dialogue, burgeoning courtships and two brutish barbarians in the form of Madsen and Malkovich.

Shooting is due to begin in March.
