Star Wars: The Comedy Cartoon?

Lucas is game for a laugh. No, really.

Star Wars: The Comedy Cartoon?

George Lucas knows a good giggle when he sees it: he allowed the Holiday Special to be made, after all. But does the world – the galaxy, even – need an animated comedy set in the universe of Han Solo, Luke Skywalker and co?

Lucas seems to think so, as do Seth Green and Matthew Senreich, the makers of** Robot Chicken** who, in their defence, have been pretty successful in finding the funny side of the force. And they’ve roped in another proven comedy type – Daily Show laugh-wrangler Brendan Hay.

"The Star Wars universe is so dense and rich; it's crazy to think that there aren't normal, mundane everyday problems in a world so well-defined," Green tells The Hollywood Reporter{ =nofollow}. "What do these characters do when they're not overthrowing empires?"

And Senreich adds: "We're going to pull back the curtain of some of those behind-the-scenes shenanigans." See, using the word shenanigans there just makes us worry.

There’s no word on when this’ll hit – animation, after all, takes a while to cook up – but if it’s not at least as funny as Hayden Christensen trying to act dramatically (or romantically), we’ll be displeased. And we’re nowhere near as forgiving as Lucas.
