Hear those geek rumblings? That’s the sound of San Diego Comic-Con appearing on the horizon, bringing with it all kinds of nerdy news and teases from beloved franchises we’ll be expecting major updates from in Hall H and beyond. And for those heavily anticipating Star Trek: Picard, the new series which brings Patrick Stewart back as an older, wiser, wine-ier Jean-Luc Picard, we have an exciting new image – a poster, which gives our best look yet at the returning captain.

Star Trek: Picard

Stewart himself shared the pic online – and in keeping with that vineyard-centric first teaser trailer, he’s depicted with barrels of wine and an impressive garden of grapes. If it wasn’t for the giant planet and spectacular sunset on the horizon, you’d be forgiven for thinking this was more Sideway 2 than Star Trek. Oh, and Picard also has a very good dog too.

The series comes from executive producer Alex Kurtzman and writers including Akiva Goldsman, Heather Kadin and Michael Chabon, and is thought to be set around 20 years after the end of Star Trek: The Next Generation. The cast around Stewart includes Alison Pill, Harry Treadaway, Isa Briones, Santiago Cabrera and Michelle Hurd. Hanelle Culpepper, who has worked on Star Trek: Discovery, will direct the first two episodes while Stewart's old TNG cast mate Jonathan Frakes will also call the shots during the first run.

The show doesn’t have a release date yet, but we know it’ll be heading to Amazon Prime in the UK. We’ll have a glass of wine ready when it starts streaming
