Don't be fooled by the Star Trek: Discovery team calling the next batch of episodes Chapter 2; it's just the second part of the first season. But the new run will kick off in the US on Sunday 7 January.

While the company hasn't released official viewing figures for the show, which screens in the States via network CBS' All Access streaming service, it has clearly been a success, as it has scored a second season order already.

The continuing mission of the Discovery comes to a halt in airing terms this coming weekend with the Chapter 1 finale, likely leaving us to cope with a cliffhanger or other such dramatic sting.

With the likes of Sonequa Martin-Green, Jason Isaacs, Anthony Rapp and Doug Jones in the cast, Discovery can be found on Netflix the following day after the US showing in the UK and elsewhere.
