Spyglass Picks Up Leap Year

New romantic comedy on the way

Hot off the success of 27 Dresses, Spyglass Entertainment has decided to have another crack at the genre, picking up a new pitch from the writers of that Katherine Heigl rom-com for no fewer than seven figures. Wow.

Little is known about the new pitch from Deborah Kaplan and Harry Elfont than the title – Leap Year. And from that, we can guess at a plot revolving around the very, very old tradition that dictates that, when February 29th comes around (once every four years, as you know), women can propose to men. Which, of course, they can’t do any other day of the year.

Or we could be very wrong. It might be something with supernatural overtones. But we’re guessing that Kaplan and Elfont have looked at the success of Dresses (which was fun, if not a patch on, say, Definitely Maybe) and decided to stick with the whole proposal/marriage thing. Hey, if it ain’t broke…

More as we get it.
