Has Spock Been Cast?

Heroes' Zachary Quinto may go Vulcan

Has Spock Been Cast?

With Comic-Con just hours away from starting, casting rumours are mushrooming all over the net - and the latest one is the most logical yet. Heroes bad guy Sylar, aka Zachary Quinto, is apparently moments away from being confirmed as everyone's favourite half-Vulcan science officer, Mr Spock in the JJ Abrams produced Star Trek XI.

It would seem like very good casting to go from cold-eyed killer in the superpowered soap to coolly rational Vulcan in the big screen Ttrek reboot, and Quinto certainly has the eyebrows for the role. His casting, if true, also further confirms the claims that they're going for young up-and-comers (20-odd) rather than big names - Matt Damon recently confirmed that he wasn't up for Kirk, for example.

Expect further, and confirmed announcements, at the Con in a few days - as well as, hopefully, confirmation about all those other casting rumours floating about. Rome's Ray Stevenson as The Punisher in another franchise reboot looks set to be confirmed (well, he certainly looks the part) and names have been bandied about for virtually all the leads in Watchmen. But let's postpone the chicken counting for another day or two, eh? We'll bring you the news as it happens in our extensive Con report from tomorrow.
