There's a lot of on-screen interest in Princess Diana right now (not that there hasn't always been), what withThe Crown and now Pablo Larrain's latest film spotlighting different facets of her ultimately tragic, complicated story. A new trailer for the Larrain drama, starring Kristen Stewart as Diana, is online.

Steven Knight wrote the script for Spencer, which takes place in 1991 when the marriage of Prince Charles (Jack Farthing) and Princess Diana has long since grown cold and distant. The Queen decrees that, amid swirling rumours of affairs and a potential divorce, the family must put on a good show for the public and try to make peace around the Christmas celebration at Sandringham.

Diana knows the game, but while the family indulges in eating, drinking and hunting, things will be profoundly different this year. Taking creative licence, the film imagines what might have happened during those fateful days.

With Timothy Spall, Sean Harris, Stella Gonet, Richard Samuel andSally Hawkins also in the cast, Larrain's latest has been drawing plenty of awards buzz, particularly for its lead. We'll see what happens down the line, but for now Spencer will have its UK premiere at the London Film Festival on 7 October ahead of a more general cinema release here on 5 November.
