Oscar-winning actor Kevin Spacey is currently being touted as the person to step into Peter Sellers' shoes as the hapless Inspector Clouseau. In a report by The Hollywood Reporter, MGM admitted being in talks with Spacey to play the lead in a remake of The Pink Panther. The project, which has been in the works for some time now, has switched up a gear of late. The script is '80% there' said MGM Vice Chairman Chris McGurk, who plans to put the movie into production by the end of this year. The Pink Panther project is the latest in a string of movies which Spacey has been connected with over the last few months. Shortly after starting work on Pay it Forward with Helen Hunt and Haley Joel Osment, Spacey signed up for The Shipping News and an untitled romantic comedy.
