Guy Ritchie must be counting his blessings at the moment. Not only does he have a new son and a new wife in the shape of Rocco and Madonna, but Snatch is doing great business at the US box office. It took $7.6 million in its opening weekend, and reached number four, beaten only by Save The Last Dance, Cast Away and Traffic. Although it's an undisputed box office success, the critical response in the US has been mixed. The Los Angeles Daily News called it "a good lot of brutal fun" and The Washington Post said "If stories don't happen fast, funny and powerful enough for you in the movies, push your way into the queue". But Entertainment Weekly said "It's not a sequel, not a remake; it's reheated Ritchie".
