The Snake Charmer

Reptiles take flight for Ronnie Yu

In terms of doing what it says on the tin, films don't come much better than Ronnie Yu's newly announced Snakes On A Plane about limbless reptiles on board an aeronautical vehicle. The director of Bride of Chucky will make this as his follow-up to last year's horror hit Freddy vs. Jason and we must admit to utterly loving the idea. The plot concerns a ruthless assassin hired to eliminate a witness under police protection. He sees his chance as his hapless victim is moved by plane and unleashes a crate full of deadly snakes onto the crowded jet. The passengers and rookie pilot must band together to fend off the angry reptiles - who are presumably less-than-happy about being seated between the teething infant and the baked bean salesman. Given that they don't even allow you to bring eyelash curlers or knitting needles on your average flight these days we find it hard to understand how one gets a crate full of venomous reptiles onto a jet, but we're sure that everything will become clear when Mr Yu gets going. In the meantime, we would counsel any Indiana Jones who may be reading to steer clear of jumbos for a few months - bad enough to find one python in the cockpit (steady!) without a whole troop of the blighters.
