If you like your horror films sick, twisted and starring Michael Rooker, James Gunn’s Slither promises a treat.

The producers have just released a new, “red band” trailer for the film, aimed at mature audiences and those with a strong stomach.

Slither sees the sleepy small town of Wheelsy under attack from alien slugs, which cause all sorts of gruesome, sloppy havoc. Prime among the problems is rich local Grant Grant (Rooker, and no, that’s not a typo), who transforms into a terrifying brute – but still loves his wife. And since his wife is played by Spiderman’s Elizabeth Banks, who can blame him? It’s up to sheriff Bill Pardy (Serenity’s Nathan Fillion) to try and save his town.

Make sure you’re not feeling ill and check out the trailer over at iFilm here.
