Plucky Brit Peter Howitt has really done himself proud. Seventeen years on from playing Joey Boswell in TV series Bread, the ambitious fellow has landed himself a real Hollywood rom-com to direct – and with no other than James Bond in the lead. Proving himself a dab hand at the old romance lark with 1998's Sliding Doors - which he both wrote and directed – Howitt is in talks to oversee rom-com Laws of Attraction, starring Pierce Brosnan and Julianne Moore as two married divorce lawyers who find themselves in the same boat as their clients. Replacing Michael Caton-Jones who dropped out of the project last week, the Johnny English and AntiTrust director is the perfect candidate to control the loved-up proceedings, flitting as they do between New York and Ireland in a manner not unlike Sliding Doors tricky double time-line.
