Skyline Trailer Beams In

The last time Greg and Colin Strause attacked our eyeballs with extraterrestrial enemies, it was via Aliens Vs Predator: Requiem. And while we’re still trying to forgive them for that, they’ll no doubt be hoping for a little more success with their latest outer space threat, Skyline. The trailer has just arrived online so now we can all get a look.

Largely flying under the radar until this year’s Comic-Con, Skyline tells a Cloverfield-meets-Independence Day-style story of what happens when nasty aliens arrive and start scooping up swathes of people from the surface of the planet with giant, powerful tractor beams of light from their ships.

A group of friends in LA (including Eric Balfour, Brittany Daniel and Donald Faison) are rudely awakened after a wild party in a posh downtown penthouse to discover that California is not immune to the invasion. As more and more humans succumb like moths to the flame of the new arrivals’ beams, our heroes will have to fight for their lives.

The teaser doesn't really offer much from the movie itself (save for a few money shots of the ships grabbing lots of people into the air), but it at least builds some tension.

The Strause siblings largely scraped together the funding for the movie themselves, and used the VFX company they run, Hydraulx, to create the effects. They were then able to broker a deal thanks to Brett Ratner to get the movie distributed.

Check out the trailer over at Apple. The film itself descends on November 12.
