Look who’s attempting re-entry… And succeeding! Yes, sorry for the awful Bond pun there, but it’s in service to the news that Skyfall, not content with smashing box office records over here, has pulled off a remarkable feat in the States and surged back to the top of the box office. The latest 007 outing scored $11 million this weekend, bringing its total in the US to $261.6 million.
Rise Of The Guardians also did well, bouncing back for a second place finish with $10.5 million, putting it ahead of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2, which made $9.2 million in third. Lincoln held firm in fourth, taking in $9.1 million. And talking of staying in place, **Life Of Pi **floated well at fifth with $8.3 million.
But Gerard Butler will be headed for an early bath (steady ladies) as his latest rom-com Playing For Keeps took a dive on its launch. It opened in sixth place with $6 million and no one will be saying the boy done well. Wreck It Ralph was seventh, earning $4.9 million, while** Red Dawn** languished in eighth, making $4.2 million. Flight remains grounded in ninth, landing $3.1 million while Killing Them Softly fell to 10th place, taking home $2.7 million.
