David R. Ellis, the director of enjoyable B-movies like Final Destination 2, Cellular and – yes, we’re going to say it – Snakes On A Plane – has signed on to direct Six Days Till Midnight, a thriller that sounds like it belongs right up his street.

The movie, written by Mark Bacci, concerns a businessman who is given a strange ultimatum by a sinister stranger: answer one question within six days. For every day that he doesn’t answer the question, the stranger will kill a loved one. And, on the sixth day, the businessman himself will die.

The question itself is being kept under wraps for the time being, but this sounds very intriguing, and could be a cross between psychological thriller and pure actioner. "I've been doing high-concept B movies, and this is the best script I've been associated with, a thriller with a great twist," Ellis told Daily Variety.

OK, so Snakes On A Plane wasn’t all it was cracked up to be (after that hype, of which we were partially guilty, how could it be?), but we’ve got a soft spot for Ellis’ movies. He makes unpretentious, tight thrillers and Six Days Till Midnight shows a lot of promise. We’ll keep an eye on the casting for this one – that should be announced soon, as filming will begin in April.

Ellis’ next movie, meanwhile, is Final Destination 4 – in 3D! Should be fun.
