It’s been four years since dread-seeped neon horror It Follows confirmed director David Robert Mitchell as a major new talent, and after a patient wait his, ahem, follow-up has snuck up on us. His next project is Under the Silver Lake, which now has a first trailer.

This isn’t a horror film but a trippy-looking mystery thriller, as Andrew Garfield’s Sam attempts to track down his neighbor, Riley Keogh’s Sarah, when she suddenly ups-and-leaves. So far so normal — except Sam’s grip on reality doesn’t seem to be particularly secure, and he soon spirals into conspiracy theories about Sam’s whereabouts.

It looks vibrant, a little unhinged and subtly surreal, and we can’t wait to see more. Sadly there isn’t a confirmed UK date for this one yet, but America is getting it on 22 June — here’s hoping we Brits don’t have to wait much longer than that.
