She might have encountered supernatural forces before in the likes of Ghostbusters, but Sigourney Weaver really is going over to the dark side for Amy Heckerling, signing up to play a voracious fanged fiend in Vamps.

Heckerling wrote and will direct the tale of modern-day vamp ladies Alicia Silverstone and Krysten Ritter, who are enjoying the night time party circuit in New York until they both fall in love and have a tough choice to make: remain immortal or cast aside their eternal life for their beaus?

We’re guessing Weaver – playing Ciccerus, the blood-craving, yet sexy vampire queen who turned them both – will have something to say about their decision.

The horror/comedy will start shooting in late April.
