Sienna Miller To Play Maid Marion

Sienna Miller's big budget career continues apace. After recently completing shooting her role as the villainess The Baroness in Stephen Sommers' GI Joe, she's now joined the cast of Nottingham, Ridley Scott's revisionist take on the Robin Hood legend.

Miller will, of course, play Maid Marion. This iteration of the character should be a bit different to the usual alternately swooning and spunky image of the posh girl who likes a bit of rough, since, in Scott's version, all the characters are re-worked. Here the Sheriff of Nottingham (Crowe) will be a noble lawman, rather than an evil little scrote, working for a corrupt king and tied up in a love triangle with Marion and Robin. It's entirely possible that Robin won't even wear green, and then none of us will know quite what to do with ourselves.

Scott is set to begin shooting later this summer, working from a script by the quite marvelously named Ethan Reiff and Cyrus Voris. A November 2009 release is being planned.
