Sheen Out of Rehab

Hollywood bad boy and apparently reformed drug addict, Charlie Sheen emerged from a six-month stay in rehab yesterday and pledged to restart his life in Hollywood. The Naked Gun star has been shut up in a clinic since he nearly died of a drugs overdose last May. He received his 'get of out jail' card when he appeared before Judge Lawrence Mira in Malibu Municipal Court for a probation compliance hearing. Judge Mira - the toughie who sent down Robert Downey Jr, and Tommy Lee - was satisfied with Sheen's progress, and ordered that he continue his treatment at the Tony Promises clinic in Malibu on an outpatient basis. "I'm very grateful today, and it's a good day to be alive," the reformed actor said outside court. "I've been able to re-embrace life through this program. I want to thank my family." Sheen says he harbours no ill feelings toward his dad, Martin, who took the tough love stance after Charlie refused to stay in rehab following his May 20 overdose. On May 27, Martin turned his son in for violating the terms of his probation on a 1997 battery plea, which stemmed from an assault on Charlie's then-girlfriend, Brittany Ashland. An arrest warrant was issued, and Sheen soon turned himself in. Instead of sending the former Heidi Fleiss client to jail, Judge Mira ordered him to stick with treatment or end up behind bars. "I was a little annoyed at the time," Sheen said of his dad's actions, "but he saved my life, and I love him for that, and I'm thankful for him as well." Sheen, who remains on probation, is due back in court on March 16 for another progress hearing.
