Despite having recorded what's commonly considered the worst album of all time 30 years ago, Star Trek star William Shatner is going boldly back into to the music world, it has been revealed. The former Captain James T Kirk is making a guest appearance on a solo LP released this week by American singer and pianist Ben Folds. Shatner's 1968 album, The Transformed Man, is widely regarded as one of the worst LPs ever made, with its spoken-word versions of Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds and Mr Tambourine Man, although it has achieved cult status. Folds, leader of the trio Ben Folds Five, told New Musical Express that he is one of the notorious LPs fans and it was on the strength of this that he recruited the 67-year-old actor for his Fear Of Pop Volume 1 album. Still on the subject of career changes, Lord of the Dance star Michael Flatley has Hollywood in his sights and plans to get cracking on his movie debut after making his last stage dancing appearance in July. Details of the film, tentatively called Dream Dancer, are being kept under wraps, but the star warned it would be full of surprises. Wow, we can't wait.
