It may feel like Sharon Stone doesn't pop up on our screens quite as much as she used to these days, but that's mostly because she works on smaller movies that don't get quite the distribution of the blockbusters. She's attached to a new, dark comic crime thriller called Sunny.

Norwegian director Eva Sørhaug is making her English-language debut with the film, which sees Stone as the wealthy and glamorous Sunny, who radiates polished perfection. Yet beneath her sparkling society smile, Sunny is a drug kingpin, mob mistress and devoted single mother, who has an adrenaline-fueled 24 hours to clean up and get out of town before the local mob boss discovers her dysfunctional family’s devastating secret. So yes... Looks like she'll be in some trouble.

"Sharon Stone is the perfect actress to bring Sunny and all of her complexities to the screen," says Sørhaug. "Her effortless ability to play strong, sexy women will take this fierce female character to the next level." As seems standard for this time of year, the rights to the movie will be on sale at the American Film Market.

Stone will next be seen in James Franco's The Disaster Artist (out 1 December) and is also part of Steven Soderbergh's new branching narrative project Mosaic.
