Following their (presumed) successs in adapting Preacher, producers Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg and Neil Moritz have dipped back into the creative well of Garth Ennis and turned their attention to The Boys for Cinemax.
After gestating for a time as a potential big screen venture at Sony and Paramount, the decision has been made to go small screen with the adaptation of The Boys comic series, which is being written and executive produced by Supernatural's Eric Kripke. The premise is set in a world wherea a CIA unit known as "The Boys" has been tasked with keeping an eye on and, if necessary, taking down corrupt superheroes who threaten the world.
Rogen and Goldberg will be directing the pilot. The Boys, created by Ennis and artist Darick Robertson, ran for 72 issues between 2008 and 2012. Issues 1-6 were published by DC's Wildstorm, the balance by Dynamite Entertainment.
