Sam Worthington Becomes GI Joe?

What do you mean, you still have no idea who Sam Worthington is? Sheesh people, get with the times! Didn't you see the Aussie Macbeth last year? No? Well, most of us either, but we still know that Worthington is starring in James Cameron's Avatar, which by our reckoning makes him bigger than Cruise, and now he's in talks to follow that with a turn as G.I. Joe for Stephen Sommers as well.

The film's based on the classic action figure's adventures (except that, instead of being a G.I., he's now in a super-secret, highly-advanced, technologically-gifted international task force), with a script by Stuart "Collateral" Beattie, and is scheduled for a summer 2009 release, strike permitting. But with Worthington still finishing Avatar, it will be a bit of a rush to get everything finished pre-strike. Production on G.I. Joe is due to start on February 13, with Paramount negotiating with Fox to ensure that there won't be any overlap between the Cameron and Sommers films.

So good casting? Bad casting? Any opinion either way?
