Sam Rockwell has been great in many genres, though he’s rarely turned his hand to horror. Now, however, the prospect of working on a project produced by Sam Raimi might just be enough to lure him to the Poltergeist reboot.

According to the Wrap, Rockwell is in early discussions about co-starring alongside Rosemarie DeWitt in the movie, which once again charts the story of a seemingly happy family terrorised in what was their perfect home.

Rockwell’s considering various offers and hasn’t locked in any deal for Poltergeist yet, although Raimi and director Gil Kenan have him at the top of their Most Wanted list. If he does sign on, Rockwell will be the head of the Bowen family, whose daughter Madison is abducted by supernatural forces, much like Carole Anne in the original.

Oz The Great And Powerful’s David Lindsay Abaire wrote the script for the new take, with Raimi co-producing alongside regular Ghost House Pictures partner Rob Tapert and MGM.

Rockwell was last seen in** Seven Psychopaths** and is back stealing scenes in The Way, Way Back, which is out on August 28.
