After snagging Emma Stone to star, true story Letters From Rosemary next needed to find a director to bring the script to the screen. It looks like it has one, as theatre director Sam Gold is in negotiations to make his debut behind the camera.

Nick Yarborough's script, which began life as a well-regarded spec and was snapped up by production company Anonymous Content, tells the story of Rose Marie (also known as "Rosemary") Kennedy, the daughter of Joseph Kennedy, Sr. and Rose Fitzgerald. Rosemary was President John F. Kennedy's eldest sister, and showed signs of mental disability that the family kept hidden. When she was 23, her father arranged for Rosemary to be one of the first people to receive a prefrontal lobotomy, but its failure left her permanently incapacitated.

Gold has had a successful career on and off Broadway for several years now, including winning a Tony for 2015's Fun Home. He's gearing up to direct Daniel Craig and David Oyelowo in a new stage production of Othello.
