She's best known to Stateside and UK audiences as a film actor, but Salma Hayek launched her career in Mexico on the small screen. And while she has had recurring roles in series such as Ugly Betty and 30 Rock, she's now developing a starring opportunity in a new comedy with Paul Feig as executive producer and director of at least the pilot.

Patty Breen, who has written on shows such as Divorce and Big Love is behind the script for this one, which doesn't yet have a confirmed title. We do know, however, that Hayek will be playing an ambassador in a diplomacy comedy series set in London.

Imagine Television is providing the backing, and Amazon is currently in talks to hand out a pilot order, with the potential for a series.

Hayek is starring in comedy pic Drunk Parents and has also worked on new drama film The Hummingbird Project. Feig, no stranger to TV after Freaks And Geeks and his directorial stints on The Office and many other shows, is finishing up a TV movie called Girls Code and new film A Simple Favour, which sees him tackling a mystery thriller.
