Heroic true stories are always good fodder for movies, and a new film based on a compelling tale has just started filming. My Brother The Devil director Sally El Hosaini is at work on The Swimmers.

It'll follow swimming sisters Yusra and Sara Mardini’s miraculous journey as refugees from war-torn Syria, all the way to the 2016 Rio Olympics.

With a script from El Hosaini and Jack Thorne, The Swimmers stars Lebanese actresses and real life sisters, Manal and Nathalie Issa, who will play the swift-swimming pair.

Working Title and Netflix are backing the new film, which will arrive on the streaming service next year.
