Ryan Gosling has played a stuntman moonlighting on other gigs in the likes of The Place Beyond The Pines and Drive. He's back on the stunt-with-extras beat for a new movie, but this time he'll be on the right side of the law. Gosling is attached to star in a movie adaptation of 1980s TV series The Fall Guy.

With David Leitch in the director's chair, this is reportedly what the duo were first talked about collaborating on back in 2020, when the film was simply known as "untitled stuntman action drama".

The original series, which ran between 1981-1986, was created by prolific producer Glen A. Larson and starred Lee Majors as a Hollywood stunt man. To make ends meet, he has a side hustle as a bounty hunter.

Majors' Colt Seavers worked alongside Douglas Barr's Howie Munson and Heather Thomas' Jody Banks, using their Hollywood knowledge to catch criminals. They hunted swindlers, thieves, bikers, conmen, fugitives and corrupt officials, sometimes utilising disguises.

This isn't the first time someone has tried to make this one – McG and Dwayne Johnson were attached back in 2013.

Leitch, who knows a thing or two about being a stuntman who takes on other jobs (like, say, co-directing the first John Wick and moving on to such films as Atomic Blonde, Deadpool 2 and the incoming Bullet Train), will shoot the new movie in Australia, which is kicking in $30 million in incentives to have Universal make it in Sydney.

No start date has been confirmed yet, but Leitch is busy preparing to make this one now that Bullet Train is ready to pull into cinemas on 5 August. Gosling, meanwhile will be seen in The Gray Man, due in cinemas on 15 July and then on Netflix 22 July. He and co-star Chris Evans are also gracing the cover of the latest Empire, which is in all good, evil and digital newsagents now.
