For unspecified reasons, Mickey Rourke has replaced Nicolas Cage in Darren Aronofsky's wrestling movie The Wrestler, says Variety. Rourke will now play Randy 'The Ram' Robinson, an aging member of the speedos and baby oil brigade who returns to the ring for one last fight with his nemesis, The Ayatollah, and one last shot at glory.

While not as big a star as Cage, Rourke actually feels like a better fit for this. He's had his own grapples with lost fame and fought to get back in the limelight. He also spent time as a boxer, so knows his way around a ring, and can never help but look anything other than beaten up by the world. You want world-weary bruiser, you go Rourke.
