So far, the Marvel / Netflix small screen version of Daredevil has tracked down its Matt Murdock in Charlie Cox and its Kingpin with Vincent D’Onofrio. Now Rosario Dawson has joined the cast in a role that is described as “pivotal.”

You can speculate as to whether she becomes Elektra all you like, but our own suggestion would be that she's a version of Maya Lopez, AKA Echo / Ronin. For now what we know for sure is that the Trance co-star will play a charity-minded young woman who is intent on helping the less fortunate of New York’s Hell’s Kitchen. Her quest to help the helpless brings her into contact with attorney Matt Murdock and his vigilante alter ego Daredevil, a meeting that changes both their lives.

She and Murdock will be going up against businessman Wilson Fisk, the Kingpin who has his own ideas for Hell’s Kitchen…

The Daredevil series, which will shoot this summer in New York overseen by show-runner Steven S. DeKnight, will bring 10 episodes to Netflix, making up part of a linked storyline that also features Marvel characters Jessica Jones, Iron Fist and Luke Cage, before all four leads team up for a miniseries called The Defenders.
