The upcoming **A Nightmare on Elm Street **remake has more fresh blood, with newcomer Rooney Mara signed up to play Nancy Thompson in Samuel Bayer's production.

Rooney, who's soon to appear alongside Sam Rockwell in The Winning Season, joins Kyle Gallner (Quentin) and Thomas Dekker (Jesse) as screaming teens faced with the debut of Jackie Earle Haley as razor-fingered dream-stalker Freddy Krueger.

It's been a heck of a day for the Mara clan who have gone franchise crazy, with sis Kate freshly cast in Iron Man 2. Rooney Mara meanwhile will be getting straight to work, with shooting on **A Nightmare On Elm Street kicking off **in Chicago in early May and its US release less than a year away.

**A Nightmare On Elm Street **is out in the US on 16 April 2009.
