Before the Hollynews machine began to slow to a crawl for this week's Labor Day holiday in the States, Ron Howard slipped out a piece of casting information for the Han Solo Star Wars spin-off film he's still at work on. As revealed by the director's twitter feed, occasional Howard collaborator Paul Bettany has boarded the movie.

Quite what the man who has appeared in A Beautiful Mind and The Da Vinci Code for the director will be up to in this one is anyone's guess at this point, though with Michael K. Williams recently unable to return for additional shooting due to scheduling issues, it would be fair to guess that Bettany might be stepping into his shoes. Or performance capture costume...

The film still features Alden Ehrenreich, Woody Harrelson, Emilia Clarke, Thandie Newton and Donald Glover, among others and despite some problems on the directorial front – Howard replaced Phil Lord and Chris Miller – it's remains on target for a 25 May, 2018 release.
