Here’s a combination we wouldn’t have expected to happen: Seth Rogen and Zac Efron… comedy rivals? But ‘tis true: the pair has signed up for a new, untitled comedy at Universal.

The film, which was first birthed from a pitch by **Funny People **co-producers Andrew Cohen and Brendan O’Brien, is still shrouded in a fair amount of secrecy, though The Hollywood Reporter was able to dig up that Rogen will be playing an average schlub (no real stretch there given his history) and Efron a frat boy (ditto).

Cohen and O’Brien already have one successful pitch sitting in development at the studio, since they sold The Best Thing About Pam Rooney, which has been set up as a possible future film for Jonah Hill.

As for Rogen, he’s been busy making My Mother’s Curse and will next be on screen with cancer comedy 5****0/50. Efron, meanwhile, has worked on the likes of New Year’s Eve and The Lucky One. He’s currently shooting the drama Heartland.
