Mr Angry is a migraine sufferer provoked by the revelation - mistaken, it turns out - that he's got an aggressive form of cancer and only ninety minutes to live. So really aggressive, then. The thrust of the story is what he chooses to do with his final hour-and-a-half. The stand-in doctor who gave him the bogus information meanwhile embarks on a frantic city-wide search for him, in order to put right her error.
The idea of Robin Williams on "a contrite tour of Brooklyn to right all the wrongs in his life" kind of suggests a sentimental oddysey along the lines of a less fantastical What Dreams May Come. There's scope for a lot more bite though. "I love the fact that it's so fun and honest," says Williams. "The idea of being that nasty and funny is a gift!" Nasty? Hopefully "putting right the wrongs" will translate in practice as "getting even". This may end up being more in the region of dark comedy World's Greatest Dad.
Phil Alden Robinson was previously the director of, among many others, Field Of Dreams and Sneakers, and says, "When I read Dan Taplitz’s amazing screenplay I realised that I wanted so much to see this film that I was actually eager to spend a few years of my life getting it made.”
