Robert Redford In Baseball Biopic

Thomas Carter, who last brought us Coach Carter is returning to the world of sports for an untitled biopic about baseball legend Jackie Robinson.

Robert Redford is apparently locked in to play Brooklyn Dodgers manager Branch Rickey in the tale of Robinson’s battle against racism and hatred in 1940’s America. African American Robinson won a place on the Dodgers team in 1947, but had to endure death threats, balls thrown at him, fans spewing abuse and the prospect of an entire opposing team striking instead of playing against him.

Ali co-writers Christopher Wilkinson and Stephen J Rivele have penned the script and Carter hopes to be shooting around March next year – provided he finds an actor to play Robinson by then.
